David Gates

David has worked in radio since the early eighties, after growing up listening to the sounds of pirate radio from the North Sea, David decided that a career as a DJ sounded a lot more interesting than joining the army.

He has over 25 years of experience behind him, from around the world having worked on stations in France, Israel, southern Ireland, and Los Angeles to name a few.

Along with his pioneering work for the establishment of community radio in the UK David has worked as a consultant on several contracts for Southern Radio Holdings, Capital Radio Plc, and Wey Valley Radio Ltd in their bids to win a license.

On the granting of the Community Radio act through parliament, he then decided it was his turn in the spotlight and set about finding backers for the Skyline project.

In 2005 Skyline Radio Ltd was granted a license to cover the Hedge End, Botley, and West End areas of Eastleigh Hampshire, formerly known as the Southern Parishes

Training is one of David's pet projects along with being a life coach, he has also completed Radio Production/journalism courses at Essex Radio/Invicta Radio/Thamesmead Radio and Bruno Brookes Radio Academy.
